There was a discussion on a fark.com thread on the use and misuse of the label "hero".
It reminded of a fellow I had the priviledge of meeting once, John Finn. Mr. Finn is 97 years old and is the oldest Medal of Honor receipient. He was awarded the medal based on his actions at Pearl Harbor.
An article by Diane Bell in the San Diego Union, December 7, 2006, he was quoted as replying when asked if he was afraid, "I was too scared to be afraid."
I thought that was pretty good!
