The library is still not open because it hasn't been inspected by the fire department yet.
Here is an interesting example of flying conduit. I suspect the ceiling was an inch lower a few months ago. Looks like we got new light fixtures in here.
I had a notion that I had written something on the bottom of this drawer. I was right. I can't remember just WHY I wrote it, but it looks like we are coming up on the anniversary of it having been placed there.
I am reading The Longitude Prize. It is pretty interesting.
That is all.
It's not JUST about what I had for breakfast...

Three Day Weekend
Saturday, after morning labs, I stopped by El Azteca for a breafast burrito, the first one I have ever purchased for myself, although not the first I have ever eaten. It was breakfast AND dinner.
Sunday afternoon we headed downtown to look for some geocaches near Petco Park but it was very crowded. I learned later that there was some sort of musical concert occurring that evening. So we took ourselves out to Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. I had a rather big pain start up in my right rear shoulder when I got out of the vehicle. It did not totally leave until I got home. Very odd. We found three geocaches, and didn't find one. The one was near a ravine with large bushes from loud giggling and odd smokey smells were emitting. We also saw a reasonably big snake crossing the trail, but it was not a rattle-type snake. I don't think it was venomous, what else is around here? I was joking that it was maybe a boomslang, 'cause I like saying boomslang, but I think it was a gopher snake. Sorry, didn't get a picture of it.
Yet another in a series of incredible portraiture. Is not the hair fantastic? So wild, so free!
Boy, I don't look a thing like in the viewfinder!
This was on the camera roll, but I forget why. But here it be, preserved for all posterity.
I watched some television last night. I watched a charming Columbo episode, with Ruth Gordon as the guest murderer. She is so great!
I watched a movie titled "Hell's Horizon", about an aircrew during the Korea war. It had the actor (Jerry Paris) who played Jerry the neighbor on Dick Van Dyke Show. I looked him up and found he was in a lot of war movies, which I did not know.
I watched something this morning that made me weep so much, but I can't remember what it was. Oh, I remember, it was "Follow That Dream", a movie with Elvis Presley. It is maybe the only movie of his that I like, I read the book before I saw the movie, in yet another instance of "Oh, I read that book!!". The book was Pioneer, Go Home! by Richard P. Powell. I have also read I Take This Land and Don Quixote, U.S.A., a book that Woody Allen used parts of for his movie "Bananas".
That is about all I can think of, thanks for reading!

Thursday It Is
What a curious day is has been today!
I was hoping to kill two birds by taking a book truck of textbooks along with me to lunch, the hope being I could catch the teachers who wanted the books before THEY went to lunch. I had my sandwich in a bag sitting on the cart. As I was maneuvering through the throngs of students a staff member came up to me and asked if that was my sandwich on the cart. I looked, it was gone! They said a student had grabbed it! I declined to follow up on it, I just did not want to know who it was. It would taint any future dealings I had with 'em, I'd have to do the paperwork, just forget about it. I hope they enjoyed it, I made it with my own two hands. I probably should have washed my hands before making it, though...
This afternoon I was shifting shelves, actually shifting the same shelves again, having not shifted them quite enough the first time, when I noticed...
How come I didn't notice the 2% slant the when I straightened that shelf earlier this week?
For comparison, Wikipedia says that a 1% or less grade is the norm on a mainline railroad, over a 2.2% grade would be extremely rare.
It may rain tonight, it certainly is a little chilly!
I see the they are at work on the bathroom next door. I wonder if I am next? I have heard nothing.

Some slight visual exaggeration of the slant due to camera angle. But the iPhone tells the truth.

Is It Tuesday Already?
I don't know what happened Monday or Tuesday, but Sunday I went geocaching and found only three out of the nine I searched for. This was one of them.
I was going to do labs tomorrow before work, but I've decided to do them on Saturday. Then I won't miss any exciting times at work!

Saturday In The Fog
Matt and I went geocaching at Palomar Mountain State Park today. It was alternately foggy, drizzly, sunny, and then foggy again. It was 46 degrees when we got there, got warmer and sunnier later, then cooler and foggy again.
This is kinda out of order. It show me in a hollow burnt tree and finding a cache, while taking a humorous (?) selfie.
I rested for a bit at this spot while Matt went back to the car to put the parking pass on display. There was already some sort of citation, but he cleared it up later with the ranger. I bless whoever made these seats!
This is the weir building on the Weir Trail. Don't know what it does, though.
Later on we went up the trail to the fire tower. The fog started coming back in!
Another photo, same spot, different crop.
Pretty red flowers, lots of them about. Trumpet somethings (Scarlet Bugler - Penstemon centranthifolius).
Before the fog came in completely we had a view of the Pauma Valley below.
We've been to the top, found the geocache, and are headed back down. Matt is taking the flower's picture. The fog has returned and visibility is very limited. Driving down the mountain was very "interesting", I'm glad I was the passenger.
I had a bacon and cheese breakfast burrito for dinner, courtesy of Matt. It was excellent, and I'm sure there were not all THAT many carbs in it.
Thanks for reading!

Friday Wetness
And it WAS wet, in the morning, but I think it was wetter the other day when it rained before work. More of a morning gentle showers, or even sprinkles, in our neck of the woods today. I totally coulda probably biked to work!
Here's a panorama of the library I made this afternoon.
There's no electricity or data at the circulation desk, but they are gonna fix that.
And that is about all I have for today!

Not Bike To Work Day
And neither is tomorrow, it's postponed till next week 'cause it is gonna rain tomorrow. And when I came out of meeting today:
Back to Tuesday. It didn't rain Tuesday. I took a picture of a dandelion that a student left on the railing.
Then I grabbed a prism I had laying about and Mrs. B. helped me take this picture of a rainbow dandelion.
Back to today. I've wondered what this is for, for many many years. There are several of them mounted down this fence, connected by conduit, sometimes plastic conduit or pipe, and seemingly aligned with parking spaces. The conduit feeds back to what used to be a functioning gate-opening mechanism, I think. I guess that is a Type E conduit body. Learn something every day!
Back to Tuesday. The shelves are going up in the library. Yes, you saw this on the FB. The shelves are mostly up now, and being populated with books!
I was first to DNF a new geocache on the way home.
Bike To Work Day has been postponed to next week, or maybe the week after, I forget.
Have a dry one!

Last Week, Mostly
It rained the other morning, but I forget exactly which morning it was.
We got just under a half an inch of rain in the whole "storm".
I got really wet walking from the parking lot to the bungalow. A bit of a cloudburst and puddles on the asphalt were the cause.
Here we have the drain outside the library finally seeing some water.
Foam.
I watched part of the movie Outrageous Fortune this Sunday morning, Mother's Day. It is supposed to be a comedy. I did not laugh. Not once.
That is about all I got.

Right Day
Yesterday, Saturday, you may have heard that I loaded up the vehicle with a cooler of diet sodas, with ICE, and drove on down to Mission Bay for a geocaching event celebrating the 15th anniversary of geocaching. I got to the Bay a couple hours early, as is my wont, so I looked for some geocaches. I didn't find five, and I did find one. Then I went to the event site. No one showed up. Eventually I realized that the event takes place on Sunday, not Saturday. So I went home.
I walked up to the railroad store after a few hours of rest'n'reading to purchase some track.
After talking to B. and M. that was pretty much my day!
Now Sunday, that went pretty well. I bought more ice, then headed down to the Bay again. While still two hours early, this time I found the caches I looked for, even two from yesterday. Lots of activity in bay, here's some "crew" boats, I guess, heading under a bridge.
At the event I took this selfie to prove I was there. This is about half of the group, including one of two dogs that attended.
I saw this Schneider Racing Cams sticker on a nearby sign. Brings back the high school memories!
Here we have a camera (mine) taking a picture of a camera (the lady), while being photographed by a camera (the drone). Which is being operated by one of the attendees. I said loudly, "Please, somebody, stop me from running down to the store to buy that extremely cool device!"
One of the guys asked me to go with him to find a nearby cache. I told him I didn't think it was there, as I couldn't find it yesterday. But we walked over there and he looked around a bit, then I idly put my hand on the tree and there the dang thing was!! It was not there yesterday, for sure! It was a fresh log, too, so someone had stuck it there very recently. Well, I signed the log then we took the log and container over to somewhere flat so the other guy could sign it. The nearest flat spot was maybe a hundred yards away. On the way back to replace the cache we saw another group approaching to look for it. I greeted them, made some inane comment, then yelled, "Hey, LOOK, flying chickens!!!" to distract them while I replaced the cache. Didn't work.
Later on I was talking to a fellow from North County. We had a long talk about various books we had read, some which turned out to be by the same author, unbeknown to us. He has a very special cache up on Mt. Woodson that I'm going to make a point of visiting, although it's a maybe six mile hike.

Hey, don't forget you can click the thumbnails (and these ARE "thumbnails", albeit really big thumbs!) to see the full version of the image! Do it!!
